DanHatch Poland celebrates its 25th anniversary
On 25 September 2023, DanHatch Group’s Polish subsidiary DanHatch Poland reached a milestone. On this day, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary, and we can look back on a quarter of a century of dedication, growth and a strong collaborative culture.
DanHatch Poland was originally called Hama when it was founded in 1998 in connection with establishing a hatchery in Stary Widzim in western Poland. The two founders were Hanna Szyło and Marek Krzysztoszek, and the combination of the first letters of their first names formed the name Hama.
After the first year of hatchery operation, Hama established a 7% share of the Polish market for producing day-old broilers. In the following years, the hatchery continued to expand its capacity. By the time DanHatch acquired the first 30% of the Polish hatchery company in 2009, Hama Plus S.A., as the company was now called, had grown into the largest privately owned Polish hatchery, with a capacity of 47 million day-old chicks a year.
Just one year later, DanHatch’s ownership increased to 70% based on the excellent collaboration between the two companies. Polish broiler production grew rapidly in the following years, and the hatchery was expanded again, as well as the construction of associated rearing and hatching egg farms. In 2012, DanHatch acquired the remaining 30% of the share capital and became the sole shareholder of Hama Plus, which later changed its name to DanHatch Poland. Today, the hatchery in Stary Widzim has a capacity of 125 million day-old chicks a year.
DanHatch Poland’s 25th anniversary was celebrated a few months before the official date with a summer party for all the company’s employees and their families. 280 people attended the celebrations, where CO-Group CEO of DanHatch Group, Anette Hermansen, was also present to mark the big day. A number of DanHatch Poland employees have been with the company since the very beginning, which is why several are celebrating their 25th and 20th anniversaries this year. These employees received a special thank you at the summer party for their loyal service from the CEO of DanHatch Poland, Paweł Rembacz.
